Jennifer Ipekel, born in Istanbul, lives and works in Barcelona. She completed her MFA at Chelsea School of Art, London in 2015 and BFA at Parsons School of Design in 2011.

pekel works across pigment, cloth, and fired earth, treating each material as an active intelligence rather than a passive surface. Her practice moves between the microscopic and the cosmic — the pore, the root, the constellation — and stages the studio as a site of incantation as much as of making.

İpekel's artistic practice constructs individual mythologies by navigating the boundaries of contemporary narratives and ancient myths. Through her art, she re-imagines dynamics of power, gender, and colour, crafting narratives that challenge traditional perceptions.

Drawing inspiration from animism, folklore, and the natural world, her work bridges the earthly and the divine inviting the viewers into a world filled with archaeological motifs and mythological excursions.

Through her works, Ipekel invites viewers to experience unity within diversity, reconnect with our roots, and contemplate the enduring relationship between humans and the cosmos.

Ipekel creates works that interconnect prehistoric narratives with contemporary mythologies. Drawing from nature, archaeology, and folklore, the artist brings together a body of work attuned to the ways in which we are shaped and imagined by the land and our ancestors.

Her practice explores the balance between humans and nature, ancestral systems of knowledge and collective memory through a personal visual language.

Shaped by hands improvising to be eyes, her figurative narratives portray frequencies of the divine feminine that have been contemplated throughout the ages. This feminine force is the cosmic energy that creates, sustains, and transforms nature. Women are extensions of the earth and creators of life. In working with clay, the artist becomes a vessel—a shapeshifter who transforms the material into energetically charged, meditative forms.
